How To Get Instagram Worthy Nails At Home!

If you’re like me, you might spend a least an hour a day on Instagram. I feel serious FOMO when I don’t check it at least a couple of times throughout the day. It’s a real problem, but that’s a whole other conversation for a different day.

My favorite Instagram content is from bloggers and vloggers whose content truly speaks to me but a good majority is mindless, aesthetically pleasing pics of food and beauty related inspo. Hair tutorials, makeup tips, nail inspiration and so on.

When I first saw an insta with stiletto nails, I was in awe of how beautiful they were. I admired their beauty and thought they wouldn’t be attainable. They’re ultra feminine and cute but let’s be real, they’re not practical for everyday life. Trying to type on your keyboard or buttons your jeans would be almost impossible.

The stiletto nails I’m going to show you how to do today are more understated and much more practical for everyday life.

Being on a budget (which is very often for me), everything I do in my life has to be affordable and I’ve had to go the DIY route more times than none. I can’t just go around willy-nilly, wasting money on things I could do for myself. So, just like my battles, I pick and choose what to splurge on and what to save on and my nails fall under the save category.

After much trial and error, I’ve found a way to do my nails on the cheap while making them still appear to be nail salon quality. I’m sharing this with you in the hopes that I can save you a little bit of extra money while keeping everything Instagram worthy.

If you follow my instructions exactly, you will end up with great looking nails where I promise you, you will end up getting compliments left and right. I’m not even being boastful or narcissistic. I really have gotten tons of compliments on my nails and people are surprised when I tell them I do them myself.

Before we get started, just a little information to keep in mind…..

You should know that I’ve had no formal training or expertise in the beauty field and the techniques I’m going to show you are self-taught and completely beginner level, so don’t be intimidated. It will cost you just under $10 bucks and with the products I’m going to be highlighting here, you will be able to replicate the look again for even less than that.

Yes, it is possible!

Before We Start, You Will Need…..

Make sure you have all of the following items as they will be crucial to achieving the right outcome:

  • Nail file of some sort ( or emory board if you will)
  • Nail clippers
  • Nail glue – any brand of your choosing, but I like the KISS Maximum Speed Glue
  • Set of different size nail tips-  the best and cheapest ones can be found here.
  • Nail polish of your choosing.

How To Get Instagram Worthy Nails At Home!

Having everything close by when you’re ready to start will make things so much easier for you.

Step 1.

Whatever route you choose to go with in regards to nail tips, before you can even begin cutting and shaping them, you’ll need to size your fake nails to fit your real ones.

Start with the index finger on one hand.

Find the correct size for that finger and then place the nail tips in order on the surface you’re working on as you go along sizing them one at a time (Placing them in order makes it easier for you to know which nail tip goes on which finger).

How To Get Instagram Worthy Nails At Home!

Please excuse the way my nails look! That’s what constant wear and tear on them will get you. 😛

Once you’re done sizing each nail and have them neatly placed on your workspace, it’s now time to work on the technique for getting those stiletto nails!

Step 2.

Starting with the index finger again, pick up the nail tip that you sized for that finger (we are now getting ready to clip parts of them).

With the nails clippers in hand, place the clippers at an angle on the outer corner of the nail tip (as seen in the image below).

Once you feel you’ve angled it correctly, go ahead and clip that little edge from the nail tip (don’t worry if the edges look a little rough, we’ll fix that later).

How To Get Instagram Worthy Nails At Home!

Repeat what you just did on the right to the left side now ( as shown in the picture below).

You will know that you’ve done it correctly if it comes out in a v shape.

How To Get Instagram Worthy Nails At Home

After you’re done with the nail tip that’s going on your index finger, finish doing the other nail tips for the other fingers, but make sure not to move them out of place because we’re not done yet!

Step 3.

Once we’ve finished cutting the edges off of all the nail tips for each finger, the next thing you will need is your nail file.

It’s important to smooth out the rough edges on all the nail tips before applying or else they will look very amateurish.

After you’ve finished buffing out all the rough edges for each nail tip, then we’re almost done!

How To Get Instagram Worthy Nails At Home!

Now that we’re finished with filing all the nail tips, the next step is to glue them on!

Last Step!

When gluing on your nails, I’ve found that the most efficient way to glue them on is to pour a little drop in the middle of the nail.

It seriously helps the glue to last longer and prevents the glue from caking up on the bottom of the nail!

After you place your glue on one nail, with an even hand you want to slowly align the nail tip with your natural nail and the press down firmly for about 30 seconds. If you use the KISS glue, it will dry very quickly!

How To Get Instagram Worthy Nails At Home

Once you’re done gluing on both hands, you’re pretty much through!  It may take a couple of tries to get it just right, but as soon as you do, you’ll find it so easy that you won’t even have to think about it!

You can have a look at the picture below to see how it’s supposed to look!

How To Get Instagram Worthy Nails At Home!

As far as painting your nails, it’s really up to you what color you decided to paint them, but I used Klean Colors pastel purple polish and I finished the look with a coat of wet n’ wild’s wildshine matte top coat.

Wet N’ Wild has really stepped up the nail game. I’m obsessed with their matte top coat because I feel it makes certain polishes really stand out! My second favorite from their range is the megalast polish in the color ballet pink. It’s a beautiful subtle pink color. I’m not even being sponsored to say this, these are all things I went and bought!

Here’s the final look nail polish and all.

I hope you found this tutorial somewhat easy! This is my first time doing a sort of how to post and I’m planning on doing many more. If you try out this look, please come back and let me know how it turned out in the comments!

How To Have A Good Day By Caroline Webb

If you’re a frequent reader of my blog then you know of my obsession with cookbooks. I’ve probably done a million reviews here on my blog. I haven’t been doing them much lately because I found out that even though I love reading them and trying out the recipes,  I don’t so much like reviewing them, so that’s why I stopped.

When I was looking for a new book to review, this one stood out to me, mainly because of the title. I like to think of myself as a positive person but I would be lying if I didn’t say sometimes, subconsciously, I get a little pessimistic. I think that’s true for almost all of us to a certain extent.

I had some pre-conceived notions about this book, because I thought that it sounded a little too simplistic, but you never judge a book by it’s cover as the saying goes, so I gave it a shot. Very glad I did too!

How To Have A Good Day By Caroline Webb

How many times have you woken up, started to get ready for the day and said to yourself, “I hope I have a good day today?” I think it’s safe to say that most of us have intentions for making everyday “good”, but sometimes no matter how hard we try to have a good day, everything seems to go wrong and the very thing you’re trying to prevent from happening has happened.

What if I told you that not only do you have a chance to make your days better and accomplish your goals, but you can also make yourself more able to handle life’s everyday problems?

That’s kind of what you get when you read How To Have A Good Day by Caroline Webb.

First a little background information about the author….

Caroline Webb is a management consultant and executive coach who has spent fifteen years at McKinsey and her own firm, Sevenshift, showing clients how to use behavioral science to boost their professional effectiveness.

In the beginning of the book, caroline gives an example of how not to approach situations within the workplace and an actual problem she faced working at a former company where her and another co-worker had differing views on how the day went and ultimately she learns that it wasn’t so much that things were working out better for her co-worker, but rather it was the way he approached things and set intentions that made their views differ whereas she went into the situation rushed, stressed out, and setting about the wrong intentions.

While this book is perfect for transforming your work life, it can also be applied to other aspects of your life as well. The tools presented to you in this book lay the groundwork for you achieving more success in each task you are faced with throughout your day.

Take for example the three important scientific themes that cut across the boundaries of disciplines and recur throughout the book.

The two – system brain: as caroline puts it,” The brain’s activity is split across two complementary systems – one deliberate and controlled, the other automatic and instinctive. ” These two systems will be prominent in helping control your brain systems as you navigate the building blocks in this book.

The discover-defend axis: as caroline puts it, ” Subconsciously, we’re constantly on the lookout for threats to defend against and rewards to discover.” That’s basically what your discover-defend axis is, the discover part being that you receive rewards and are therefore happier and the defend part being that your in that flight or fight response.

The mind- body loop: as caroline puts it, ” The state of our bodies and that of our minds are far more deeply entwined than we generally realize.” Hence why whenever we feel unease in our minds, our body responds with the same kind of unease.

Those three themes are big and constant throughout this book as they serve as foundations to understanding the different techniques you will need to utilize in order to make yourself more in control of your mind.

I could go on further into the many types exercises you will learn in this book and more in depth as to the way our brain works according to caroline, but I don’t want to spoil it for you. If you’re interested in taking control of your mind and being able to have a “good day” , then I highly suggest getting this book. At the very least, you will be very enlightened by what caroline has to say about how our brains work.

Tell me below: What do you do to have a good day?

Spring Break Trip To Charleston, South Carolina

In about December of last year, I had a talk with my mom about us both wanting to go away somewhere for a while just to get a break from the mundane, day to day grind. It had been almost 6 years since I had been on a vacation at all, so as you can probably imagine, I was dying to go away some where.

We had a couple destinations in mind, but ultimately decided on Charleston because it fit well with all the things we were looking for in our next destination. It’s a place we’d never been to and offered plenty of activities as well as beautiful views.

The day we left, I was so excited and being that we had a 7 hour drive, I felt like we we’re never going to get there. Is it just me or does it always seem to take forever for you get to where you want to be when your going on vacation?

We arrived at our hotel at around 3 pm and got checked in and freshened up before we decided to go out to eat.

**Side Note: I completely failed on the blogger front because my intentions were to take a bunch of amazing photos, but I ended up with very few. I wish I could say I had a good reason, but I don’t. I guess I was having such a good time that all plans fell to the wayside.**

Spring Break Trip To Charleston, South Carolina

We stayed at the King Charles Inn, which is on meeting st. about a block away from king street which as most locals know, is a major shopping area.

It’s a beautiful hotel with great service. Need a good restaurant recommendation? They’ve got you. They can even book a tour for you if you want to know a little history about the town (which it is full of).  We booked a ghost tour because we thought it might be fun to be scared, and while it didn’t turn out to be what we expected (it was more a history of ghosts than actual scary type tour) it was still interesting and we met a few people from different parts of the country while on the tour.

After we finished “freshening” up from our long drive we left the hotel to go to dinner. We found a great restaurant close to our hotel called Hyman’s.

Spring Break Trip To Charleston, South Carolina

Lol, that’s my aunt and mom’s heads in the picture.

Hyman’s is a well known seafood restaurant in Charleston where it’s visitors include a number of famous singers and actors as displayed on the walls. The service was really good but the food was UHMAZING! Seriously, it was the best seafood I’ve ever had and I’ve been to a lot of seafood restaurants in my time.

Spring Break Trip To Charleston, South Carolina

After we ate there, we headed back to the hotel and got some much needed rest. There’s nothing better than lying down in bed after a long drive.

The next morning we got up and did a little shopping and walked around town looking at all the different beautiful old houses. One thing I can definitely say about Charleston is that you get plenty of exercise through walking. It’s almost impossible to find parking and if you do, it usually costs an arm and a leg.

I didn’t mind much though because the cool breeze paired with the beautiful scenery and palm trees was very relaxing to me. I’ve always said that I would love to live by water because it calms me so much.

Spring Break Trip To Charleston, South Carolina

Spring Break Trip To Charleston, South Carolina

Walking around and seeing a lot of the town made me really  appreciate all the history and beautiful old buildings of Charleston, and while I also live in the south, none of our towns have quite the same historical elegance that Charleston has.

Another thing I really love about Charleston is the almost nonexistent access to free parking and I’m not being sarcastic in the slightest. Why would I possibly love this you might ask?

Well, for starters, yes driving is nice for when you have to drive long distances, but how many times can you say you walked around a town or city (excluding major cities of course)? Not only is it so beautiful and calming but it is the best workout you could ask for. Seriously, my legs hurt the next day from all the walking we did.

I said to my mom and aunt that I would love having a nice little apartment there in the middle of town with a cute little bike I could ride around everywhere and that would be a dream life for me.

Spring Break Trip To Charleston, South Carolina

That night, we decided to go on a Ghosts Of The South Tour, because I’m fascinated by the idea of ghosts and I though it would be scary and fun.

I think by far the scariest thing on our tour was our meeting place. When we were told to me up with our tour guide in a dimly lit part of town and in front of a random building, needless to say we were a little worried for our safety. Our fears were soon relinquished when we saw the other group of people meeting there as well and we got to talking with them.

This tour was more of a facts and history tour than a scary  one, regardless, we still enjoyed ourselves. One of my favorite spots we visited on the tour was Poogan’s Porch. The story goes that sometimes at night, staff and guests alike have seen the ghost of Zoe St. Amand, a woman whose mental state was deteriorating towards the end of her death and some think she stays behind at Poogan’s because it’s the last place she remembered living after she died.

The actual restaurant was named after a stray dog that kept showing up at the restaurant and would never leave so the restaurant owners decided to name the restaurant after him.

Spring Break Trip To Charleston, South Carolina

Last thing I wanted to mention about this trip was a cute little shop close to our hotel called Peace Pie. They were recommended to us by the staff at our hotel and what a great recommendation it was! This fairly new shop in Charleston sells all types of amazing ice cream sandwiches. Just look at the menu above and you can see all the delicious offerings they have! A huge bonus was the guy who served us was very friendly and seemed to really enjoy his job! It’s so refreshing to see someone that’s genuinely a happy person!

I would be lying if I didn’t say the one of the reasons why I went to Charleston was because a lot of the scenes from the notebook were filmed there. However, the main locations I wanted to take pictures of were not easily accessible to me so I didn’t get the chance to take those pictures. For one, Boone plantation (the place noah and ally stayed when ally had dementia) charges $20 a person to enter and I didn’t want to pay $20 just to take some pictures.

Secondly, I tried finding the American theater where noah and ally had their first date, but I had trouble finding it, mainly because there was another theater that looked very similar but had a different name and the other reason was because my gps refused to help me navigate king street while walking. It was still a very great trip non the less!

I enjoyed Charleston so much that I would seriously consider moving there. If you ever get the chance to visit, then you definitely should!

Thanks again for reading! Let me know below your favorite travel destination!

Klean Colors Pastel Collection Nail Polish Review

With spring literally a few weeks away, I thought now would be as good a time as any to talk about all things pastel. When I think of spring, I think Easter, beautiful flowers in bloom and bright colors everywhere.  Also, pastel certainly comes to mind as the embodiment of spring.

I’m a huge fan of anything pastel and this new collection of nail polish from Klean Colors did not disappoint.

Klean Colors Pastel Collection Nail Polish Review

This is my first time learning about Klean Colors, which I wouldn’t have found out about had I not searched nail polishes on Amazon. That’s where I found this collection.

The brightness, beauty and vibrancy of these colors is what attracted me to them. Not to mention the price was very reasonable for what you get.

Klean Colors Pastel Collection Nail Polish Review

The pack comes with six total pastel colors and each color is true to it’s given name. While I like cutesy names beauty companies give to their product, the naming of these six polishes makes it easier to remember so that if someone asks what color you’re wearing, you can without a doubt say pastel blue.

Klean Colors Pastel Collection Nail Polish Review

My favorite of the six has to be the pastel orange. The reason being, I feel like orange compliments my skin really well.

The texture of these polishes are great because they allow for a faster drying time and it only takes two coats to get a full (sheer free) color.

Klean Colors Pastel Collection Nail Polish Review

To give you a good picture of what the polish looks like on, here’s a pic of them on my nails and as shown in the pic to the right of my nails, I provided you with swatches so you could see the true color payoff.

I really enjoyed these polishes and would definitely buy them again given that they are such as good buy for the value.

What do you think of these polishes? Is their a nail polish brand that you know of that not a lot of other people do? Be sure to leave a comment below!

Valentia True Glow Eye Cream + Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask

Valentia’s True Glow Eye Cream & Ultra Hydration Mask arrived on my doorstep at the perfect time. By the end of this year, I will only be a couple of years away from my thirties. One thing that’s almost unavoidable to think about when you reach that milestone in age is your skin. There’s a common joke that once you reach your 30s, it’s all down hill from there, which I hope is just that, a joke. Still, I’m becoming more and more aware with each passing year, how much my skin means to me, and I want to take care of it and keep it looking good for as long as possible.

It’s funny because 4 or 5 years ago, I would laugh at the thought of using anti-aging skin care products because I felt that I was a long way away from needing that, but the problem with aging skin is that you have to start taking care of it before the fact not after.

The whole point of anti-aging products is to prevent the process of aging, so if you use it after you start aging, it’s almost useless. This is my first foray into anti-aging skin care products, so I went into it with no expectations and an open mind. Valentia, is a product I’ve never heard of but when I researched into the product, I was very curious as to how it would work and what kind of results I could expect. Valentia True Glow Eye Cream + Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask   True Glow Eye Cream This first product is touted as a complete anti- wrinkle eye care treatment with benefits such as diminishing fine lines & wrinkles, nourishing and hydrating, tightening the under eye area, brightening dark circles, and reducing puffiness. As far as diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, I didn’t really have any to begin with but I feel as though I’m preventing it with this cream. One thing for sure I can agree on, is that it’s nourishing and hydrating for my eyes. I’ve noticed my eyes look and feel less dry and my makeup goes on a lot smoother. I also feel as if it tightened my

I also feel as if it tightened my under eye area as well because the skin around my eyes didn’t feel as loose when I pressed on it. It certainly helped with brightening under my eyes and reducing puffiness. I usually wake up from sleep with puffy eye bags and this cream seemed to tame it. Overall, I would give this product 5 stars. Valentia True Glow Eye Cream + Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask Valentia True Glow Eye Cream + Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask   Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask

I was so excited to try this product because I have combination skin (oily/dry) and wanted to see how this would work on my skin. Not only that but the listed health benefits made it an added bonus.

Listed Health Benefits:

Boosts collagen production

Increases skin radiance

Reduces fine lines

Locks in skin moisture

Reveals softer smoother skin I used this product after cleansing my skin at night before bed and left it on my skin for 30 minutes before washing it off. I felt a slight, dull tingling sensation, but nothing too bad. I’ve used it for almost 2 weeks and I noticed my skin has been slightly more hydrated and soft. I’ve also noticed my skin has been tighter than before using it. It hydrated my skin just enough where it wasn’t too oily and made my makeup application much smoother. I would definitely recommend this product for anti-aging purposes and also if you have dry skin. Great mask! Overall, I would give it 5 stars.

Valentine's Day Blogger Gift Swap

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine's Day Blogger Gift Swap

Ok, so it’s the day after, but I still wanted to say it anyway. I honestly didn’t do anything yesterday and it was the most relaxing day. Since I didn’t have any Valentine’s Day plans,  I decided (since I wanted to feel festive and all) to sign up for the Valentine’s Day Blogger Gift Swap hosted by Jasmine from Classy, Sassy, and A Bit Smartassy and Lexi from A Blissful Haven. Speaking of Valentine’s Day, I have the perfect recipe for your next date night.

I’m so glad I signed up because it gave me the chance to get to know one of my fellow bloggers. I was partnered with Keoshia from Mrs. Doing Me. Rather than trying to sum up what she’s about myself, I asked Keoshia to put her blog and what she’s about into her own words. Here’s what she said:

Hi my name is Keoshia and I a mother of 2, blogger and YouTuber. I mostly blog about my hair journey, but recently I have been branching out and expanding my blog content. The content I produce on my blog and Youtube channel is designed to help others.  I write and vlog about my personal experiences and things that I have learned. I hope by sharing the knowledge that  I know about certain topic or subjects it will be able to benefit my readers and viewers. If you would like to come along and see my world you can find me at http://mrsdoingme.blogspot.com/ and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCx8AEgj7O-AkvxVPRnxUDCQ.

Head on over to her youtube channel & blog and check her out! She has great advice!

When I opened up her gift to me I was so excited. It was like she could read my mind and knew exactly what I would like!

Everything I got was so cute and so on par with what I like, but I have to say by far my favorite were the planning and organizational supplies. One thing I’ve never really discussed on my blog is how much of a Type A personality I have. I don’t like being late for things and I like for everything to be neat and perfect, and that’s why having planning supplies is like a dream come true for my personality.

Planning is also great for blogging because any blogger will tell you that having a posting schedule makes things run so much smoother.

Valentine 22 - edited

I also got an adult coloring book, and seriously you guys, there isn’t anything more therapeutic than getting lost in the beautiful floral patterns in each page. I like to turn on my favorite t.v. show while coloring and find it so relaxing.

I also got some Mike & Ike’s that were a nice little treat to munch on in between shows.

Valentine 9 - edited

Last, but definitely not least was this cute little hearts print mug and milk bottle. Remember earlier when I said it felt like Keoshia read my mind?

Well, one thing I do almost every morning ( and sometimes afternoon) is make a nice cup of tea.  Usually it’s a green or peppermint tea. And since I’ve been on a smoothie kick lately, it would look so cute in side the glass bottle.

I want to thank Keoshia for my gifts and nice card and definitely feel like the ones I sent might of been sort of a let down. I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day and I also want to thank Jasmine and Lexi for organizing this gift swap!

New 2016 Nighttime Skincare Regimen

Last year, if you read my blog, you’ll remember that I did a post on my favorite skincare products.  I was all about the blackhead eraser scrub and the grapefruit and pomegranate cleanser. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the products, but as with a new year, there comes new changes to my everyday routines. This year, I decided to branch out from my favorite drugstore products to some a little bit pricier.

New 2016 Nighttime Skincare Regimen

New 2016 Nighttime Skincare Regimen

I’ve heard of most of these products before with the exception of the Biore charcoal soap bar. I’ve used plenty of Biore products before, but never the charcoal bar. It seemed like last year was the year of charcoal in beauty products.

Skincare 7 copy

I don’t know what prompted cosmetic chemists to put charcoal and beauty products together, but I’m glad they did because it has done wonders for my skin. I have pretty temperamental skin, so it’s hard to combat breakouts without drying out my skin. Well, this might just be in my head, but I feel like this product does great at combating breakouts WHILE retaining moisture to the skin. This product gets an A+ from me!

New 2016 Nighttime Skincare Regimen

Boscia ranks highly on my list of skincare products that are gentle and effective. Remember what I said earlier about my skin being temperamental? What I meant by that is, I have combination skin, so I have a wide range of products I have to use to address each skin care problem. Dryness, oiliness and breakouts are a common problem with my skin. For those reasons, I always find myself reaching for gentler products. Boscia is perfect for this!

This product is so gentle, that whenever I have flair ups, I always reach in my cabinet for this product to keep my skin in check. I highly recommend this cleanser for anyone with sensitive skin!

I saved my kiwi face scrub for last because it’s my favorite of the three!

This great product I’m talking about is the Mario Badescu Kiwi Face Scrub. It’s a little bit more pricier than some of my usual skincare products, but it’s well worth the extra dollars. I use this scrub once a week, because it’s that powerful. I would warn you though, you might want to use it intermittently with an acne product if you are prone to breakouts, because it can cause flair ups every now and then.

This product addresses my huge pore problem. I have a HUGE PORE PROBLEM! It feels like so often you can fit a crater in my pores. This scrub gets deep down into those bacteria filled pores (GROSS) and almost acts as a vacuum and removes the dirt. I’m a serious Mario Badescu fan now! Check out his range of skincare products, if you haven’t!

Thanks for reading! As always, check out my social media buttons at the top bar of my blog and you can regularly catch me tweeting @Echanningblog.

Have you tried Mario Badescu products before? If so, which ones and did you like them?

Valentine's Day Red Velvet Mousse Recipe

Valentine’s day is shortly upon us and whether you celebrate a romantic relationship or a familial one, the meaning behind it remains the same. It’s about showing those that you love your affection for them.

I’ll be honest, Valentine’s day hasn’t been my favorite holiday for a while now. I can’t even count on ten fingers how many times this holiday has come around and I remain single each time. As cliche and cheesy as it may seem, I wouldn’t mind receiving flowers or candy.

Just because I don’t get these things, doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy looking at all the pretty hearts and candy displays at the stores. Red, pink and white go perfect together, in my opinion. Flowers look pretty just about any time and any where.

Whether your celebrating as a single person or as a couple, this Valentine’s day mousse recipe I have for you is the perfect little treat to indulge in on this day.

What I love about this mousse is that it’s sweet and satisfying without feeling too heavy on your stomach.

I don’t know about you but after I’ve eaten a box of chocolates, I always end up feeling stuffed and sickly. This mousse is so light and fluffy that you can barely tell you’ve just indulged in a sweet treat.

It’s the perfect after dinner treat!

This mousse is pretty easy to make, but there are two parts to it. You can top it with anything you want but I added whipped cream.

If you make this for Valentine’s Day, please come back and tell me how it went! I would love to know!

Celebrating My One Year Blogiversary!

Celebrating My One Year Anniversary!

It sounds so weird saying this, but my blog has officially turned one year old today. I’ve been having so much fun with blogging that I didn’t even notice how much time had passed. I was actually scheduling posts to go up this week which is when it struck me that this huge milestone was coming up.

What a year 2015 was!!!

To recap for you, my blog has gone through various changes over the past year, not only aesthetically, but also in niche. But I don’t want to get too ahead of myself, so let’s start with the aesthetics.

If you’ve followed me from the very beginning, then you are probably very aware of the numerous theme changes, lol. What can I say…. I’m a perfectionist. I can happily say though, that their won’t be any changes in the foreseeable future because I’m in love with the look I have now.

Secondly, about half way through the year last year I changed niches. If you’re a blogger, then you know that when you first start blogging, you’re just getting your footing and figuring out what works for you and what you’re passionate about. This was the case with me.

I liked blogging about the things I was blogging about because I felt I had a lot of insight into what I was saying, but realized it was making me happy. After much thought, I decided to change my niche to lifestyle because that’s what I was passionate about and those were the types of blogs I enjoyed reading.

I’m looking forward to the year to come and with a new blog camera and exciting things planned, I feel this will be the best year yet for Echanning! Hope you’ll stay along for the ride!

To celebrate this milestone, I’ve decided to compile a list of my most popular posts as sort of a “look back” at last year. Hope you enjoy!

Green Smoothies: 66 Recipes & 7-Day Detox Plan

You may or may not have noticed that I haven’t posted any cookbook reviews on here lately. That’s no mistake, I was getting kind of tired of the same old same old, and let’s be honest a lot of you probably were too. However, I do have a book I’m going to review today and it’s called Green Smoothies: 66 Recipes & A 7-Day Detox Plan By Fern Green.

This smoothie book couldn’t have come at a better time for me or you because, like almost everyone else in the world, we’ve all set out to make January a fresh start which for a lot of people means eating healthy and exercising. And what could be more healthy than a smoothie?

My newest book obsession not only features tons of delicious and very, very easy smoothie recipes, but also recipes for juices, nut milks, and tonics. Great for cleanses or just as a regular addition to your healthy eating routine.

Green Smoothies: 66 Recipes & 7-Day Detox Plan

As you probably noticed in my last post, I kind of am obsessed with smoothies at the moment. They’re good for you and mostly easy to make. With this new book, Green Smoothies: 66 Recipes & A 7-Day Detox Plan, I have even more excuses to continue the obsession and even more information into different ways to add healthy items to my growing smoothie recipe collection.

Green Smoothies: 66 Recipes & 7-Day Detox Plan

As you can see in the pic above, each recipe comes with a small list of ingredients and a short instruction list because let’s be honest here, who doesn’t want a simple and easy recipe! What’s even better? These are all natural ingredients and healthy for you!

Really the only equipment you need is a juicer and/or blender. Throughout the book you will find tips and tricks for juicing and making smoothies and nut milk. There’s even a 7-day detox plan which is perfect for planning for the week ahead, which for me, I personally struggle with this.

If you like minimalistic recipes or even health plans than I would definitely recommend checking this book out.

In the pic above, is one of the smoothie’s I made from the book. It’s a Coconut Kale Smoothie and it was so delicious, especially since I love coconut so much! You can barely taste the kale in it!

Most of the recipes in this book contain 6 or less ingredients, so you won’t be shelling out too much money when buying the ingredients. I put the rest of the smoothie and blender into the fridge and it should keep until tomorrow.

If you’ve never tried smoothies or juices before, I really suggest just trying it because you might like it more than you think you would.

Thanks for reading and let me know in the comments below, have you tried smoothies or juices before and if so, which were your favorites?
